Alexandar Tzanov March 16, 2006 Dear Sir or Madam: As you can see from the attached resume, I am a graduate of Hilbert College, Buffalo, NY, where I was awarded a B.S. in Economic Crime Investigation (ECI) with concentration in Computer Security. The ECI program provided me with a background in fraud detection, investigation, and prevention through a blend of courses from Criminal Justice, Accounting, and Information Systems Management. I particularly concentrated on systems and networks security and forensics. During the course of my studies I acquired knowledge of computer network structures, as well as policy and risk management and disaster recovery. Some of the tools I was introduced to were MD5 and EnCase. I further fine-tuned my analytical and investigative skill during my internship at PayDirect, a partnership between Yahoo and HSBC Bank. During that time I was part of the fraud prevention team, where I helped gather and analyze data, which was used to profile potential suspects. I was also responsible for developing and managing the SQL queries used for some of the above functions. I am also a graduate of Jefferson Community College, Watertown, NY, where I received an A.S. in Computer Information Systems (CIS). The CIS program prepared me to analyze business information needs and prepare specifications and requirements for appropriate data system solutions. I was introduced to the microcomputers environment, which helped me develop and improve my programming skills in C++ and COBOL. I have had the opportunity to work in the IT departments of both educational institutions. My duties consisted in assisting IT staff and students in addition to being a hardware and software support analyst. At Hilbert College I was also an assistant administrator for the resident students' computer network. Other places where I have been able to demonstrate my project and network management skills are my work as a Resident Assistant at my school's dormitory and throughout group projects during my educational and professional career. I have administered and configured game servers, on-line community forums, and home office LANs (wired and wireless). I have also been involved in the start up of a web hosting business, including development and implementation of business plans, policies, and procedures.
