Metis

I was having problems with running a particular server. After a while I was not able to figure out what the problem was, so I started searching on the web. I came across a site which required me to register before I could search through its resources. So I did. I was choosing a random password, nothing remotely close to my usual set of passwords nor something that made sense to me. So thinking that I was just making up a word I typed in metis as my chosen password. Out of curiosity I decided to look up the word. I wanted to know if it actually existed and if it did, what it meant.
Well it was an actual word and below is its definition according to Encarta's dictionary:
Canadian of mixed descent: in Canada, somebody of mixed aboriginal and European, especially French-Canadian, descent who is now defined by the Canadian Constitution Act of 1982 as an aboriginal person
Now that is funny! :D

Google releases new Page Creator

Thanks to Digg I found out that Google has entered the web hosting/personal space arena. That of course is not counting Blogger.
The Page Creator's interface is all in AJAX, just like GMail and most everything on the Internet with a smart and creative web designer behind it. This makes creating very decent pages a breeze. The creator uses a WYSIWYG editor, and it also come with over 40 page templates. Just like with Blogger, the templates can be applied instantaneously, all the user has to worry about is the content.

Noob!!! What noob?

So, few days ago, I was playing my favorite 'puter game - Natural Selection - and Amanda walked in the room and saw the game. Somehow she got intrigued and for the following couple of days wanted me to sit and play the game, so she can watch the action. Now, isn't that awesome? How many guys can say that their girlfriend is asking them to play a 'puter game so she can watch it? Anyways, on the third day she asked to play. :) It did not take her long to get used to is. She just had to get some practice with the movement/looking/aiming all at once.

How to piss off a cop in 5 mins or less?

Couple of weeks ago Amanda and I were driving on I55. I was doing about 67mph when in my rear view mirror I picked out a state trooper's car. There was a car in front and to my left and another one about half mile behind me. Eventually, the cars around me saw the trooper's vehicle as well, so they all started to slow down to the posted speed limit.

Glass like surface.

I was driving on Lakeshore Dr. this morning and I looked over at the lake. The water surface appeared fake / "man made". It was smooth and flat like a glass surface. I wish I had a camera with me so I could show you guys. It was awesome. It was also surreal, few days ago, when Amanda and I drove by on our way to the emergency care vet. There was barely any wind, but there was still enough to create some waves. The way those waves were moving across the surface the water looked like it was made out of jello.
